why do I write so much ?

Because I feel better afterwards

so here is just another bla bla bla

newsletter I am writing on the plane

going back to Nice from Tallinn

NOW FOR SOME FLUXUS NEWS

FROM TALLINN FLUXUS EAST SHOW

The best room was Mieko Shiomi'spacial poem room

but I d'int see many people reading them

I did not see poeple looking at the videos,

more then ten videos one in each corner

to explain the photos and the documents

The show needs "obligatoirement "a tour conductor

-Petra should have stayed there doing the job

-Petra put a lot of energy into this show

-Why are the Russians are not in the show ?

-I would have invited the Blue Noses group

-I din't quite understand the show what was the aim ?

Show that Fluxus existed in East europe ?

but then why show Ben Vautier

Eric Andersen and Ben Patterson ?

The videos too much talking not enough actions

one needed at least 10 hours to look at all documents

Kadi Talvoja the responsable

was verry angry with every body

nobody understood why

For the concert I asked her for a Tuba and I got a trumpet

we got flowers for George Brecht's piano piece

I loved the piece of Ekaterina Obermaier

played by Thomas spanking the ass of a beatyfull girl

I kept asking Kadi : Are you an assistant ?

She looked so young and inexperimented,

never smiling

I think she was not at all intersted in Fluxus

- I asked Petra : How did the show go in Budapest ?

She said we were expecting you but the french

AFAA refused to pay for your journey

I dont like Fluxus performances that last too long

I don't call them Fluxus but personal work of the artist

- Some people, maybe they are right beleive

that Fluxus Because it contains Rupture

anti art, non art, an'art

is becoming like Dada

if thats so

are the members of Fluxus

to become the Tristan Tzara's, Picabia's

Nice talk by Landberger who of course did not come to the concert.

He said : Fluxus was ideas

Fluxus is to injoy freedom

Fluxus is generous

Fluxus is life

Fluxus is independant behavior

Fluxus is not "routine" art

Fluxus could be everything

He said also Fluxus is nature coming into art

I interrupt I said : No Landberger, Fluxus is also ego

He smile and said : yes but ego is also life, and nature



EN FRANCAIS MAINTENANT

Ce qui m'a le plus frappé à Tallinn

c'est les maisons en bois

presque toutes pareilles

on aurait dirait des jouets d'enfants

et puis les belles filles blondes

il n'y a que des femmes dans les rues

ont-ils un problème démographique :

manque d'hommes ?



QUESTION LANGUE

Les nations Baltiques passent du russe à l'anglais

Dans le taxi et les

bistrots que de la musique anglo-saxonne

L'anglais donc semble avoir été adopté comme langue internationale



TALLINN

Je visite le Musée très grand, très beau, très nouveau musée.

On dirait aujourd'hui qu'il n'y a pas une petite capitale qui n'a pas son musée d'art contemporain

et sa boutique

Une expo : "Difficult choice" avec 3 portraits de Staline

MY POINT OF VIEW ABOUT FLUXUS CONCERTS

Pathos and affect

that is the danger Fluxus scorses have to avoid

turning into theatre

I believe

that the essence of Fluxus scores

are in the events of George Brecht

and La Monte Young first works



MY FIRST IDEA

of a Fluxus scores book

would have book permiting anybody

who cannot read music

to give a Fluxus concert

just instructions



FLUXUS SCORSES

Ca devient une épidémie.

Giroud est venu ici il y a un an me piller

toutes mes partitions Fluxus en me disant

qu'il préparait un grand livre sur les Fluxus scorses

pour les Presses du réel.

(comme soeur anne je n'ai rien vu venir)

Jon Hendriks m'annonce la même chose

Anna Dezeuze aussi.

Ken Friedman aussi.

Bref tout le monde travaille sur les Fluxus scorses.

Mon projet à moi date de 1996

C'était de faire un livre qui permettait à quelqu'un qui ne connaissait pas la musique de faire un concert Fluxus



FLUXUS

Je suis le plus classique des Fluxus parce que j'aime les concerts avec des pièces courtes

Peut-être parce que je n'ai rien à montrer moi-même



BEN A COLOGNE

Mon expo à Cologne s'appelle « contre l'art »

Au vernissage, je me mets debout

sur une chaise et je leur dis que depuis 50 ans je me pose toujours les mêmes questions : pourquoi l'art ?

A quoi sert l'art ? etc

J'ai l'impression de me répéter

Je dors à l'Hôtel Chelsea. Une chambre à la Laurence Wiener. Je téléphone à annie à 1h du matin.

Je l'imagine avec son amant, mais elle a sommeil.



FLUXUS EAST

Christel est d'accord avec moi que Fluxus East

c'était trop de papier, trop intellectuel, pas assez d'humour



Pourquoi est-ce que Fluxus East

ne m'a pas envoyé le catalogue ?

Je ne suis pas content.

Décidément ce n'est pas très clair tout ça.



FLUXUS NEWS

Petra did not send me the catalogue from Fluxus East.

ALTHOUGH I lent her a lot of documents

I suppose she forgot (too much work )



PETRA came to see me in Nice. She said

she was interested in curating a show on an'art

artists indifferent to art

wanting to give up art etc



JONAS MEKAS

has invited me to London on the 17 th of october

its a manifesto show organised by the Serpentine Gallery

I dont know what I will do



NEWS FLUXUS

Tobias Berger, the sonof Michael Berger is becoming chief curator for Name June Paik center in Corea.



A TALLINN un gentil Monsieur

me tend une enveloppe et me dit c'est pour vos frais. C'est la Goethe Institut qui me donne 500 euros pour couvrir mes frais. Bonne surprise.

Les rues de Tallinn sont remplies de très belles filles

Au musée le jour de l'ouverture

il y a à peu près 8 femmes pour 1 homme.

Je demande où sont passés les hommes ?

On me dit : ils sont partis pour l'Irlande.

Il faudrait qu'en Juillet 2009 quand on fera le festival Fluxus chez Jacqueline Friedmann

on fasse une soirée Pip Chodorov avec ses films.

Décidément Ben Patterson et Eric Andersen

sont formidables quand ils sont ensemble

Je me sens seul

sur une chaise et me mettre à chanter Billy Boy

Je ne comprends pas ceux

qui jouent à être non ego

avec un super ego

et si on ne se faisait pas d'illusion et qu'on

prenne l'art pour ce qu'il est : une jungle

ce serait plus drôle



FLUXUS SCORES

How to determine what is a typical Fluxus score

and what is not

I suppose each Fluxus member

has his own idea on the subject

and of course

I also have my personal idea of

what a Fluxus concert should look like

in very few words

a fluxus concert shoud be composed of

short pieces

from 10 seconds to 3 minutes

one after the other

containing

newness and humour

the message to pass should be

this is contempory music containing

event (George Brecht )

and humour (Maciunas)

I supoose as in the moyen age

I would consider myself as an orthodox

la villa Arson prépare pour 2010

une grande expo sur la performance à Nice

Thierry Raspail voudrait que je participe en 2010

un grand concert fluxus avec un veritable orchestre pihilarmonique

ce sera une premiere mondiale

je vois deja les 40 musiciens entrain de serer la main
